The second book has taken a little more time than the first, but I’m now happy to reveal that the first draft is finished. At 130000 words it’s come quite a bit longer than The Alchemist’s Box (85000 words), but it’ll come down a bit in the edit. The title for this one is “Lose a Princess, Lose Your Head.” It starts with our two heroes lying low in Eressia, until they are recruited to join a company of Hussars to escort a princess of one of the provinces to meet her intended husband in his winter palace. Of course things don’t go smoothly, and the princess is snatched from under their noses. They must set off in hot pursuit to retrieve the princess before the Emperor finds out, while trying to keep away from former enemies, pirates, and battle roosters! We get to see a bit more of the underside of the Eressian Empire, its political intrigues, and how it’s coping with the aftermath of the war |
Finally, I thought I’d share with you another artist’s impression of our leading lady, Regina Fitzwaters. I thik this captures her really well, and shows her in her Merchant Blades coat with her saber. We’re working on getting a similar one of Jaeger, but he’s proving a little bit more troublesome – as he always is!
